Dream Girl 2 Review: Ayushmann Khurrana’s versatility shines in this messy comedy carnival, READ

Dream Girl 2 Review: Stepping into unconventional shoes once more, Ayushmann Khurrana returns as the gender-bending protagonist in “Dream Girl 2.” Picking up where its predecessor left off, this sequel takes the uproarious comedy to a new level, promising a riot of laughter and chaos.

Balancing humor with heart

Dream Girl 2” embarks on a comically audacious journey that sees Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Karam, embracing his alter ego, Pooja. The film serves up a buffet of eccentric characters, misadventures, and absurd situations, all interwoven with witty one-liners and clever references. Director Raaj Shaandilyaa doesn’t shy away from embracing the over-the-top hilarity, although the execution occasionally wavers.

Ayushmann Khurrana is the undeniable star of “Dream Girl 2,” effortlessly slipping into the role of Karam and the vivacious Pooja. His portrayal is a testament to his versatility, as he navigates the fine line between humor and sensitivity. While the screenplay often leads to absurdity, Ayushmann’s charisma and impeccable comic timing remain consistent, injecting life into every scene.

A tale of two halves

The film’s narrative oscillates between moments of uproarious laughter and instances that could leave audiences pondering. While the first half brims with eccentricity and punchlines, the second half occasionally loses its pacing. The ensemble cast, featuring stalwarts like Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, and Vijay Raaz, adds their unique flair, but the script’s focus on relentless comedy occasionally overshadows its potential depth.
