Health Tips: Are Period Cramps Troubling You? Ditch Painkillers; Try These Home Remedies For Positive Results

When period pain hits you, the first remedy is painkillers. However, there are a few natural remedies that can be just as effective.

Health Tips: Period cramps can be very painful on some days. Therefore, most people go for painkillers or other medicines that can contain many side effects. However, certain home remedies are worth a shot before opting for heavy antibiotics.

What causes period pain?

During the period cycle, the muscle in the womb muscle in the abdomen area shows contracting movement for the shedding of blood lining. Therefore, this can cause pain that varies in different people at different intensities. Here are a few home remedies that can help relieve the pain.

Heating pad

Placing a heating pad on the abdomen or other areas with muscle pain instantly relieves the pain. The heat emitted from the heating pad when touches the skin, promotes blood flow. As a result, it generates more oxygen in the area, thus relieving the pain.

Essential oils

Some essential oils such as peppermint or lavender oil can be massaged on the area with pain for a few minutes. This not only relieves the pain in the body but the anti-inflammatory effect of the oils helps soothe the prostaglandins and also relieves period pain.

Herbal Tea

Herbal tea can be really helpful for period pain. Not only does it hydrate the body, it has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe pain in the body.

Yoga

Doing a few yoga poses can also cut down period pain significantly. These yoga poses include Adapted Child’s Pose, Cat-Cow Pose, Reclining Twist Pose, Pigeon Pose, and Corpse Pose. These poses can naturally relieve discomfort.

These remedies can relieve period pain in a natural easy way. Moreover, these do not have any side effects if used properly, unlike painkillers. However, if one still does not feel pain relief, they could take painkillers or consult a doctor.
