Cirkus Box office collection Day 1: Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus earns 7.5 Crore on 1st day, Rohit Shetty’s poorest opening in ten years

Cirkus Box office collection Day 1: Cirkus, a comedy movie directed by Rohit Shetty, was the last major Bollywood release of the year. Trade analysts predicted that the movie would put a positive change on a year that was majorly not upto the mark. However, it appears that Shetty’s magic did not work this time. The Ranveer Singh-starring movie has struggled to establish a strong start at the box office.

Cirkus had a difficult time attracting crowds when it released, especially for its morning and afternoon performances. According to sources, it took in between Rs 6.35 and Rs 7.35 crore on its first day of release. It was not even half of what was expected from the film. According to film industry expert Taran Adarsh, Shetty consistently “surprises” the public, and one shouldn’t “underestimate” his ability to draw large numbers to theatres.

Rohit Shetty’s poorest opening in ten years

Rohit Shetty’s poorest opening in ten years came from Cirkus. His last film, Sooryavanshi, which was released in theatres during the pandemic, had a double-digit opening weekend (Rs 26.29 cr.). Simmba, a 2018 release, generated Rs 20.72 cr on its first day. The box office debuts for Golmaal Again (Rs 30.14 cr), Dilwale (Rs 21 cr), Singham Returns (Rs 32.09 cr), and Chennai Express (Rs 33.12 cr.) were all spectacular.

Director of the film Rohit Shetty said about the film, “It’s that kind of a film. This is for all those who loved those films. I’m sure they’re going to love it because I’ve watched the film.”

Further he added, “When we started off, I was just a filmmaker making films. Then, the kind of love I got from the audience, it became their film. So, I now make films for them, I take it as a responsibility.”
