RRR actor Ram Charan reacts to Naatu Naatu being shortlisted for Oscars; says ‘Couldn’t be more honored’

Ram Charan takes great pride in his collaboration with SS Rajamouli’s RRR. He and Jr. NTR are featured in the upbeat song Naatu Naatu, which has been nominated for an Oscar in 2023. The actor, who played Alluri Seetharama Raju in the movie, posted on social media to express his happiness at moving even closer to the Oscars. It was a “historic moment in Indian cinema,” he said. The first song from India to be nominated was Naatu Naatu.

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, has been nominated in 14 categories for the 2023 Academy Awards. The movie has been strongly advocated in Hollywood by the creators. Naatu Naatu was chosen as one of the 15 songs for the Best Original Song category’s shortlist on November 22. Taking to Instagram, Ram Charan wrote, “What a historic moment for the entire Indian Film Industry. Couldn’t be more honoured to note that #NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards! @ssrajamouli garu and @mmkeeravani garu, it’s all your magic.. 🙏🏼❤️ #RRRForOscars #RRRMovie.”

The final five nominees will be unveiled on January 24 following a voting period from January 12 to 17. The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood is where the 95th Academy Awards are scheduled to be presented on March 12.
