Health Tips: Worried about rising air pollution? Follow these steps to stay protected

Health Tips: Keep yourselves and your loved ones safe from the harmful effects of air pollution. Follow these precautions to stay one step ahead.

Health Tips: Air pollution is a serious concern, especially for the residents of the National Capital Region (NCR). With the dawn of winter, the air above the Northern cities in India is also becoming more and more toxic. Last year studies proved that breathing in Delhi is like living the life of a chain smoker. Unfortunately, all residents cannot relocate to other places to tackle this problem. Hence, the best way is to apply adequate preventive measures. Following these steps properly will keep you and your loved ones safe.

Health Tips to stay protected from air pollution

Toxic air can prove to be extremely harmful to our lungs. It can provoke severe chronic lung diseases such as Asthmatic Bronchitis or Interstitial Lung Diseases. Apart from your lungs, your heart is also extremely susceptible to diseases due to air pollution. As it is said, prevention is the mother of all cures, we must strive to do everything possible to keep ourselves and our loved ones protected from the harmful effects of air pollution. Find out how you can stay protected outdoors as well as indoors.

Safeguarding yourself from air pollution while outdoors

You don’t need a doctor to tell you that the most densely polluted areas are outside your homes. The best way to prevent damage is by avoiding going out in the first place. However, if you really have to go, make sure you check two things: the Air Quality Index (AQI) and your own SPO2 level. If AQI is above 150 it is harmful to go out; thus you must wear an anti-pollution mask. Your SPO2 level must be above 95. If it is below that, you must avoid heading out at all costs. Keep small oxygen canisters with you, if possible, for emergencies.

Protection from air pollution while remaining indoors

While it is true that your home is the safest place amid rising air pollution, it doesn’t mean that it is a zero pollution zone. You can still be affected by pollution in your homes. The best way to keep the indoor air clean is by installing adequate oxygen-generating plants in your homes. Another effective way is to buy an Air Purifier, a device that automatically purifies the air within a predefined radius.
