A nostalgic spin with a twist
Set against the backdrop of a hill station in the vibrant 1960s, “The Archies” reimagines the iconic town of Riverdale through an Anglo-Indian lens. The film delves into the lives of Archie and friends as they navigate the intricate web of friendship, heartbreak, rebellion, school protests, and lively dance parties. However, the adaptation did stir some mixed reactions, especially when it came to the incorporation of rock ‘n’ roll elements, leading to discussions about its alignment with Western media.Netflix’s “The Archies” boasts a lineup of fresh talents that promise to breathe new life into the beloved characters. Agastya Nanda shines as the charismatic Archie Andrews, whose feelings oscillate between Betty and Veronica, portrayed by Khushi Kapoor and Suhana Khan respectively. The cast also includes Vedang Raina as the self-absorbed Reggie Mantle, Aditi ‘Dot’ Saigal as the aspiring hairstylist Ethel Muggs, and Mihir Ahuja as the food-loving Jughead Jones. Interestingly, Jughead’s iconic crown-shaped cap has been replaced with a distinctive flat cap, reminiscent of the hit series “Peaky Blinders.”Hamari kahaani ka countdown shuru ho chuka hai 🙌
