Pathaan: For the upcoming movie Pathaan by Yash Raj Films, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made some changes. The movie, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has caused controversy since the song Besharam Rang, which features Shah Rukh and Deepika, has offended many people. Prasoon Joshi, CEO of CBFC, recently stated that some changes were duly required in the songs.
In the spy thriller Pathaan, Shah Rukh makes his first appearance on the big screen in a full role in more than four years. The release of the song “Besharam Rang” from the movie earlier this month caused controversy around it. The song was criticised by many for glorifying vulgarity. Others even claimed that the song’s clothes are offensive to the Hindu community.

CBFC chairperson says ‘makers to implement the advised changes in the film and songs’
As per reports, CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “Just to put all queries around the film Pathaan at rest, the film recently reached the CBFC examination committee for certification. The film went through the due examining process as per the CBFC guidelines. The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release.”
Further he added, “The CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believes that we can always find a solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders. Whilst the process is getting duly followed and implemented, I must reiterate that our culture and faith is glorious, intricate and nuanced. And we have to be careful that it does not get defined by trivia which takes the focus away from the real and the true. And like I have said earlier as well, that the trust between creators and audience is most important to protect and the creators should keep working towards it.”
Pathaan release date
On January 25, 2023, Siddharth Anand’s film Pathaan is scheduled for release. Shah Rukh’s long absence from the screen prior to the movie’s release has made it a highly anticipated one. In the 2018 film Zero, he last appeared in a major role.

Several days after the song Besharam Rang was released, Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra spoke on his dissatisfaction to the media about the video’s use of saffron coloured costumes. He claimed that the movie had a few unpleasant scenes, and if they weren’t changed, he threatened to have Pathaan banned in Madhya Pradesh.
