Before Independence Day 2023, the Indian box office has seen a boost with highly anticipated movies like ‘Jailer,’ ‘Gadar 2,’ ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Bholaa Shankar,’ “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” and ‘Oppenheimer’. These movies performed exceptionally at the box office and collectively earned around Rs 403 crore across the country. These wonderful films have brought more than 2 crore Indian viewers to the cinema halls from August 10 to August 13.
Rajnikanth’s Jailer
Rajinikanth’s super hit film ‘Jailer,’ which made a total collection of Rs 162 crore all over the country is leading the race. The movie, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar sold about 93 lakh tickets during this four-day period and is expected to continue its tremendous performance on August 15.
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2
Anil Sharma’s directorial venture, ‘Gadar 2’ made a total collection of around Rs 152 crore all over the country. Reports suggest that about 70 lakh people watched the movie on its first weekend, and it’s expected to attract even more viewers during the Independence Day week.
Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2
Next is ‘OMG 2,’ a movie featuring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles. This comedy-drama managed to sell approximately 20 lakh tickets during its opening weekend, resulting in a total net box office collection of Rs 47 crore.
Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer RRKPK
In its third weekend, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ directed by Karan Johar, kept performing consistently. It earned Rs 10.20 crore this weekend and managed to sell tickets around 3.75 lakh.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer
Even with tough competition from movies like ‘Jailer,’ ‘Gadar 2, ‘ and ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Oppenheimer’ managed to earn some money at the box office. The film starring Christopher Nolan sold 1 lakh tickets and earned a total of Rs 5.85 crore.
