Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma pay obeisance to Lord Ganesh; Karisma Kapoor shares special message

The Indian cricket team is taking a little holiday after winning the Asia Cup before the India vs. Australia ODI series begins on Friday. Virat Kohli, India’s star batter, participated in the Asia Cup but has been rested for the first two ODIs in the three-match series against Australia. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, the former Indian cricket captain’s wife and actress, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi and conducted Puja on Tuesday. Karisma Kapoor, an actor, wished them on the occasion.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi 2023

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma celebrated the auspicious festival in their house and they paid obeisance to Lord Ganesh. Both looked gorgeous and adorable together in traditional outfits.

Virat Kohli is not in the Indian team

On Monday, a day after the Indian cricket team won the Asia Cup, the roster for the ODI series against Australia was announced. The roster for the three-ODI series included several surprises. The most notable is the return of Ravichandran Ashwin, who last appeared in an ODI in January 2022. Another surprise was the team management’s decision to rest the star trio – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya – for a series that is being billed as the final dress rehearsal before the World Cup.

The trio, along with Kuldeep Yadav, have been out for the first two ODIs, but will return in the third. A journalist questioned BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who announced the selection, about the reason for resting the players ahead of ‘Bharat Darshan’ at the World Cup. The reference to ‘Bharat Darshan’ was chosen because India would be the most-traveled team in the ODI Cricket World Cup, with all of its group stage matches taking place in different cities.
