Adipurush controversy: Allahabad High Court Lashes Out at Censor Board Amid Dialogue Criticism

Adipurush controversy: Om Raut’s much-anticipated mythological drama, Adipurush, featuring stars like Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, has landed in hot water, following the release. The dialogue of the film has stirred significant controversy, leading to an outpouring of backlash and intense criticism on social media platforms. The makers of the film and the director even faced threats to their lives during a press conference held in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the ferocity of the controversy.

Allahabad High Court Expresses Discontent Towards Censor Board and Makers of Adipurush

 

In light of the ongoing controversy, the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench has publicly reprimanded the film’s producers and the censor board. The court questioned the role of the censor board and expressed its disappointment during a hearing over a petition against some controversial dialogues in the film. The court questioned, “What exactly is the censor board’s role? What values are you aiming to instil in the coming generations?” This statement stemmed from concerns over contentious dialogues.

Concern Over Controversial Dialogues

Post-release, the film has garnered a significant amount of criticism from both reviewers and critics alike. Several of the dialogues sparked controversy, leading to public outrage. In a swift response to the rising disapproval, the makers decided to modify the contentious dialogues.

Controversial Dialogues Revised

In response to the public outcry, the producers of ‘Adipurush’ made changes to the controversial dialogues that had previously incited social media backlash. Among the contentious phrases is “Kapda tere baap ka… toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki”, which has been modified to “Kapda teri Lanka ka… toh jalegi bhi teri Lanka.” Similarly, the dialogue “Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko lamba kar diya… bhara pada hai” has been rephrased to “Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko samapt kar diya… bhara pada hai.”
‘Adipurush,’ based on the epic tale of Ramayana, has faced its fair share of turbulence even before its release. Despite these controversies and the subsequent backlash, the film opened to remarkable box office numbers. The saga of Adipurush remains captivating, with a promise of courage, sacrifice, and Dharma that resonates through the poster. The eyes of the public and the media remain trained on the future proceedings of the Allahabad High Court and the impact it may have on the film’s continuing run.
