Rakesh Roshan: The actor turned director and producer, Rakesh Roshan has been all over X (formerly called Twitter) recently. Credit goes to our beloved didi, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, who unintentionally made a blunder while praising ISRO on the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. Apparently, didi misrepresented Rakesh Sharma (the first Indian citizen and cosmonaut to go into outer space) with Rakesh Roshan.

Mamata Banerjee’s honest blunder
Chandrayaan-3’s safe landing on the surface of the Moon drew praises from all over the nation. West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee also pitched in to pass her congratulations to the entire ISRO. However, she made an honest mistake while delivering her speech that led to the flooding of X (formerly called Twitter) with hilarious memes and bloopers with #RakeshRoshan.
During her speech, didi was trying to recall the moment when under Indira Ghandhi’s presidency, wing commander Rakesh Sharma became the first Indian citizen to go into outer space. While communicating with Rakesh Sharma, Indira Gandhi asked him, “how does India look from outer space?” to which he replied, “saare jahan se acha.” It could have been an emotional and patriotic speech if only didi could have got the name of the cosmonaut right. By mistake she referred to wing commander Rakesh Sharma as Rakesh Roshan and that was enough to send the entire internet community rolling on the floor laughing.
Netizens’ reactions to Mamata Banerjee’s mistake
This blunder from Mamata ji acted like a spark in a wild forest, that lit the entire internet community. Netizens made #RakeshRoshan a hilarious trend all over X (formerly called Twitter) posting several memes on the platform with funny pictures of Rakesh Roshan and son Hritik Roshan as well. Some trolls edited Rakesh Roshan’s pictures to make it look like he was wearing an astronaut suit. Others posted his son Hritik’s absurd reaction pictures on the matter.
