Ponniyin Selvan: Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster movie, Ponniyin Selvan has the director reuniting with actor Karthi. He directed the movie Kaatru Veliyidai in the year 2017. Before the movie, Karthi worked as Mani Ratnam’s assistant director in his brother’s movie, Aayutha Ezhuthu. Karthi has worked with him before; Karthi said that the second time experience of working on PS1 was really a huge learning lesson. Karthi is playing central character Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan in the movie, PS1. Actor opens up about working with Mani Ratnam and the lessons he learnt while shooting for the film.

Karthi on the lessons he learnt
Karthi will play a role which connects the rest of the characters in the film. He is considered as the hero of Ponniyin Selvan as he is playing the central character. Talking about his life lessons working with Mani, Karthi said, “He has given me a lot of clarity on what I want to do. He would say because something is working and becoming successful. It has to come from within you. You have to better do stuff which makes you happy in the scripts and films. He gave me a lot of clarity that you don’t have to take shortcut. Not every film has to be superhit.”

Talking about the dedication of Mani Ratnam, Actor said, “With Mani sir, what I have seen is that he never accepts the defeat. He dislikes hearing no for an answer. He said, don’t think about what other people are talking, let them say good or bad things. You know who you are. Trust in you and keep going.”
