Famous comedian Mammukoya is no more, Malayalam industry mourns

Mamukkoya: A wave of mourning spread in the Malayalam film industry as the famous comedian Mamukkoya is no more. Earlier this week he suffered a heart attack during a football match.

According to the reports, he had recently suffered a major heart stroke as well as a brain hemorrhage, after which he fainted. He was admitted to the private hospital at Wandoor, Kerala. He was under observation and put on a ventilator, but he could not survive his death and died on Wednesday (April 26).

Honoured with the State Award for Best Comedian

Mamukkoya has appeared in more than 450 films. Not only this, he was the first comedian who was awarded with the State Award for Best Comedian in Malayalam cinema. Mamukkoya has worked with many veteran actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Jayaram and others.

Fans react to the tragic news

Fans expressed condolences on social media as soon as the news was received.

One user commented, “You will always be remembered, legend”.

Another user tweeted, “Rest in peace legend. An irreparable gap in cinema”.

Famous Journalist Sridevi Sreedhar also paid respect to the actor. She tweeted, “A fine actor and comedian #Mamukkoya  (77), passed away. The veteran actor was hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Vandoor after suffering a heart attack on April 24 while attending the opening of a football tournament in Malappuram. #RIP”.

Mammukkoya was 76 years old when he bid goodbye to the world. He left behind his wife Suhara and four children.
