Suga, a member of BTS, may decline to join as an active-duty soldier for South Korea’s required military service. According to many rumours, Suga will be assigned as a public servant owing to left shoulder surgery in 2020. BigHit Music, BTS’s agency, has now responded to the claims. According to Yonhap, Suga ‘shall do his military service as a social service agent.’ It went on to say that the rapper was assigned to be a social service agent rather than an active-duty soldier, but details about his recruitment are uncertain.

Soompi reported on Tuesday that “BTS members aim to serve in the military consecutively according to their personal plans. The artist’s personal information is difficult to authenticate.”

BigHit Music previously issued an official statement on Suga’s surgery, stating, “Suga also believed that it was vital for him to restore himself to good health in order to prepare for his obligatory military service as well as his post-service musical career.” The choice to undertake the surgical surgery was taken after significant discussion with the company.”

According to the Korea Herald, working as a social service agent is an alternate type of military duty in South Korea. It can be done by persons who are unable to serve as soldiers on a military post owing to causes such as health or family circumstances. It went on to say that social service agents ‘work at government institutions and welfare institutes like as schools, government offices, local parking lots, nursing homes, and subway stations.’ The service is three months longer than that of the Korean Army—21 months in total, including three weeks of basic military training.
