Bob Marley’s grandson Jo Mersa Marley passes away at the age of 31, details here

Jo Mersa Marley: Jo Mersa Marley, a reggae musician and the grandson of Bob Marley and Stephen Marley, passed away at age of 31.

On December 27, a representative for the musician gave the heartbreaking information as he went out to tell the public. Jo Mersa gave several memorable songs to the industry.

Jo Mersa Marley, who was born on March 12th, 1991 in Kingston, Jamaica, debuted in 2010 with “My Girl”, a song he co-wrote with his cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley. He released “Bad So” in 2014 as part of his ‘Comfortable’ EP, two years later.

2021 saw the release of Jo Mersa Marley’s self-titled debut album. The late musician spoke about creating his own place in the industry during a prior interview with a renowned music publication.

Jo wanted to experiment on new things

He had said, “I am one of the new generation of Marleys, but I am still experimenting at the same time. My plan is to do something new with my roots.”

Stephen Marley, who was a descendant of the legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, is the father of Jo. Everybody’s Gonna Be Alright, Get Up, Stand Up, Is This Love, and a number of other well-known songs were written and recorded by Jo’s grandpa, a well-known pioneer in the reggae movement. At the age of 36, melanoma claimed Bob Marley’s life in 1981. With seven different women, the singer had eleven children.

Jo opened out to Pier about what it meant to wear the last name in an interview because he is Bob Marley’s grandson. He claimed that he did not experience any pressure in this regard and said, “There are things that you have to overcome and things you just have to do and that’s how it is. We have to go through life you know? There’s no pressure for me. I give thanks for being a Marley. I’m very appreciative and thankful that I am born where I am born and put where God has decided. I’m very thankful about it and proud.”
