Avatar: The Way of Water fails to surpass Avengers Endgame’s opening day collection in India, details here

Avatar 2

Avatar 2: Avatar: The Way of Water, has had a strong start in Indian theatres just like the first part of the series. The movie is drawing a lot of attention from moviegoers, and based on its first-day box office haul, it appears to have the potential to surpass Avatar as the most successful Hollywood movie of all time.

The James Cameron-directed movie took in between Rs 38.50 and Rs 40.50 crore on Friday, according to reports. After the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame, which made Rs 53.10 crore on its opening day, this places Avatar 2 as the second-highest box office opener in the Indian market.

Avatar 2 performing better in South

The southern market is where the science fiction drama is making the most money. Only Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka contributed to its revenue of Rs 22 crore. A total of Rs 17 crore in revenue was collected from the remaining territories. The movie is the first to record such a massive opening day number in the post-pandemic era.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are reprising their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively, in Avatar: The Way of Water. They have five children now, but the “sky people” who are after Jake have ruined their beautiful existence. Along with his family, he seeks safety with the Metkayina tribe, but the family must learn how to survive on the water.

Avatar 2 will garner historic collections

Avatar 2 will garner “historic collections,” according to movie exhibitor Akshaye Rathi. In an interview, he said, “I am sure it will grow into highest grossing Hollywood film this year. It will also be the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time in this country because James Cameron is truly a visionary beyond being a filmmaker.”
