As he announced this news, he also called Amitabh Bachchan his mentor. This 72-year-old actor is still at the top of his game with a packed schedule of upcoming projects. As one of the most influential people in the whole world, this actor is especially popular for his works in the Tamil film industry. Now, he is set to return to the big screen with the upcoming film making it Thalaivar 170.
Rajinikant is set to collaborate with Amitabh Bachchan
Rajinikanth announced the upcoming project Thalaivar 170 through his social media page. He revealed that he is working on his 170th film. Rajinikanth is widely known as Thalaivar by his fans. Therefore, till the release of the official name of the upcoming film, it is deemed as Thalaivar 170. The film is directed by TJ Gnanavel, the renowned Tamil director, known for his movies such as Jai Bhim and Payanam. In the post shared by him, he also said that he will be collaborating with Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years. They last worked together in 1991 for the film, Hum. Moreover, he called him a ‘phenomenon’ and his ‘mentor’ in the post. In this X post he wrote, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s “Thalaivar 170″ directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!”

Rajinikanth was last seen in Nelson Dilipkumar’s action comedy, Jailer. The film was a huge success among fans. Apart from Thalaivar 170, he is set to appear in a small role in Lal Salaam, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Furthermore, he is set to star in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next instalment of Lokiverse after the release of Vijay’s Leo.
