Vivek Agnihotri disagrees with ‘milord’ Anurag Kashyap’s statement about Kantara and Pushpa

In response to Anurag Kashyap’s latest comments, Vivek Agnihotri stated that he disagrees with the Gangs of Wasseypur director. Vivek jokingly referred to Anurag as “Bollywood’s one and only Milord.”

Vivek tweeted Tuesday evening, sharing a screenshot of a news story concerning Anurag Kashyap’s comments “I totally disagree with the views of Bollywood’s one and only Milord. Do you agree?” The headline stated, “Films like Kantara and Pushpa are destroying the industry: Anurag Kashyap.”

Many people on the internet notified Vivek that the headline ‘misquoted’ Anurag. “First see the interview..he is truly misquoted here,” one of them wrote. Some people agreed with the director of The Kashmir Files. Someone remarked, “Actually, he is right, as Bollywood glamour is no longer good to watch. More people are watching movies with content.” “He should think about it,” said another.

Anurag recently stated that the popularity of Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat ‘destroyed’ Marathi cinema since everyone wanted to make money off of it. Sairat, which was released in 2016, is one of the highest overall Marathi films. Anurag told Galatta Plus, “Films like Kantara and Pushpa give you strength to go out and express your tales. But, no matter how successful KGF 2 was, trying to replicate it and launch a project is a recipe for tragedy. That is the bandwagon on which Bollywood has ruined itself. You must seek for films that inspire you.”
