Shah Rukh Khan in Ra.One

The Badshah of B-town, Shahrukh Khan, tops the list, having donned probably the most costly suit in his sci-fi film, Ra.One. Ra. One, a film directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced on a budget of Rs 130 crore in 2011, was a milestone for Bollywood.

The film’s highlight was Shahrukh’s robotic costume, which cost roughly Rs 4.5 crores. Robert Lever, Manish Malhotra, Naresh Rohira, and Anaita Shroff were the designers behind this masterpiece. This stunning attire drew the attention of many who had never seen such a look in Bollywood before. Shahrukh’s superhero-themed outfits were a hit with kids.

Madhuri Dixit in Devdas

The legendary song ‘Mardala’ from a classic film Devdas’ attire is widely regarded as one of the most costly in Bollywood history. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2000 drama film had a tremendous effect on the standards of big-budget films.

The clothes and general aesthetics were so stunning that no one could take their gaze away from any of the characters or their apparel.  They featured a strong feeling of ethnic butcher’s hook and were heavily decorated and embroidered. The designers Neeta Lulla, Sandeep Khosla, and Reza Sharifi received the IIFA Award for Best Costume Design for Devdas in 2003 and are still well-known for their outstanding work.

Rajinikanth in Robot franchise

Rajnikanth, known as Robot to many, donned a Rs 3 crore suit in the Tamil film Enthiran, known as Robot to many. Chitti Robot, directed by Shankar Panikar, is a sci-fi and romance film that grossed around Rs 2.90 billion mainly owing to the lead cast’s popularity.

The amount of effort put into producing this film was evident, whether it was in the costumes or the VFX. Manish Malhotra spent a lot of time and effort crafting the Robotic outfit. This intriguing gear, one of the most costly outfits, brought art and mechanics to life.

Deepika Padukone in Padmaavat

Padmavati, which had to be altered to Padmavaat, drew a lot of attention both at the box office and culturally. A Sanjay Leela periodic epic with a Rs 160 crore budget was not going to compromise on costumes. Deepika Padukone looked stunning in a lehenga for the song “Ghoomer.” According to reports, 200 artisans utilized 400 kgs of gold in 600 days to make the jewels for her role.

Kareena Kapoor Khan in Kambakkht Ishq

It’s reasonable to spend a lot of money on a superhero or historical outfit, but spending lakhs on a single frock may be a pipe dream. Kareena is seen slaying the title track in the film Kambakkht Ishq, wearing a black gown that costs around Rs 8 lakhs.

Despite teaming up with Akshay Kumar and putting the screen on fire, the film did not fare well, but it did make every female watching Bebo fantasize about herself in that attire. For as long as anybody can remember, Kareena has worn sequin gowns, owing to designers Aki Narula and Shabina Khan.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jodhaa Akbar

The greatest legendary film of all time, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar, which provided three hours and thirty-four minutes of cinematic delight, was an eye-pleasing movie in every respect. The historical romance film, featuring Aishwarya Rai as the lead female character of Jodhaa, created a strong impact of love and trust. This successful film had a budget of Rs 40 crores and a Mughal-era concept.

On television, the clothes were magnificent. They were elaborately embroidered and embellished with beading and precious stones. The lifelike clothes in the real-life drama bring the characters to life. As a result, it has left us with a memorable and noteworthy experience.

Kangana Ranaut in Krishh 3    

Kangana Ranaut was featured in the film Krrish 3 wearing ten different latex outfits, the material for which was transported from Paris. It cost them around Rs 1 crore to create ten such outfits. Gavin meticulously sewn each superwoman costume created in Hollywood to get the nuances right for Kangana’s pricey appearance. The costume was worth Rs 20 crore.

Deepika Padukone in Bajirao Mastani

If there was a list of top directors for big-budget films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be at the top. So, to attract attention in Bajirao Mastani, he spent more than Rs 50 lakhs on Deepika Padukone’s attire alone. Anju Modi, the designer, has carefully constructed and researched history to grasp the color tone that the clothes require. Furthermore, a large sum of money was spent on jewels, as though everything they wore was precious and genuine. Because of his strong Indian background, Bansali has a great sense of aesthetics when it comes to historical films, which is obvious.

Hrithik Roshan in Jodhaa Akbar

It’s not simple to play a historical figure, especially the renowned Emperor Akbar. The set and costumes in the film Jodha Akbar, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, cost a fortune.  Hrithik Roshan, who portrayed Akbar in the film, donned an outfit that cost roughly Rs 12 lakhs.

Not only did Neeta Lulla create the costumes for the main actors, but also for every other cast member in the film. For a year and a half, Lulla conducted a significant study on the clothing used during the Mughal Empire. She traveled to Jaipur to study more about Akbar’s reign and the textiles that were utilized.

Vivek Oberoi in Prince  

The budget for Kookie V Gulati’s 2010 Indian action thriller Prince was Rs 35 crores. The principal actor, Vivek Oberoi, donned six leather suits in the film, each of which cost over Rs 30 lakhs. The film received mixed reviews from renowned reviewers.
